Continuous motion blister packing

The continuous motion blister solution from Romaco Noack is applicable to many different types of blister cards. It is ideal for small batch sizes and frequent product changes. This packaging solution processes blisters both lengthwise and crosswise to the running direction.

The high degree of automation and use of servo drives ensures accurate production and minimizes downtime. Moreover, the advanced level of automation contributes to optimize the machines Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE).

  • Maximum output is 700 blisters per minute, depending on configuration.
  • Quick changeover and easy to operate.
  • Integrated containment solution available.

Intermittent motion blister packing

A Romaco Noack intermittent motion blister machine is ideal as an entry-level blister packaging solution. The blister machine can be used for a variety of products such as tablets, capsules, or syringes. In addition, the QuickAdjust system ensures automatic adjustment of coding, perforation and die-cutting.

The machine comes with several available upgrades for increased productivity. Upgrades include automatic feeder and fill inspection system. It can work as a standalone unit or in-line with a cartoner.

  • Designed in accordance with cGMP guidelines.
  • Maximum output is up to 480 blisters per min.
  • Quick changeover and simple repeatable operation.

Blister cards

Blister cards are a common unit dosage packaging for different pharmaceutical products. They are moist and airtight, and thereby often prolongs shelf life of the product.

A blister pack is produced using a form-fill-seal process. In this process, first the container is formed, then the pharmaceutical product is filled in the container, and finally it is sealed. The container is formed directly from a roll of plastic wrap or other material, including PVC, PVCD, aclar, or aluminum. This is done by thermoforming or cold forming depending on material used. For pharmaceutical products, foil or a combination of foil and paper is normally used to close and seal a blister card. The entire process takes place on the same blister line.

Blister foil and other sealing material

For push-through blister packs, foil is commonly used to close and seal it. Child-resistant blister cards are most often made of a mix of foil and paper. This makes it harder to push the product through the sealing. Moreover, blister cards can be made from cold formed aluminum-aluminum (alu-alu). Alu-alu is the only packaging that is 100% protecting against moist, air and light. Therefore, it typically applies to extra sensitive products. Moreover, blister foil helps to ensure the integrity of the product, as any breakage of the foil will be clearly visible.

Noack blister machines can process several different types of sealing material. This includes common types of thermoforming films, cold forming films and film for alu-alu blister cards.

Complete blister line

By combining Noack blister machines with Promatic cartoning solution, PPS and Romaco offer a complete blister line. Each blister line can be configured according to individual needs. An example of a complete blister line includes:

  • Blister machine.
  • Blister inspection system.
  • Cartoning machine; including box folding, feeding of information leaflets and blister cards, as well as printing and marking the boxes.
  • Shrink foil unit.
